"Inspected By" tags, WOW! stickers and Brix Blasts!

We randomly inspect boxes of Fresh Produce from every load of produce we receive at PPC. You will begin to see our Quality Assurance Department’s "Inspected By" stickers in these boxes beginning in February 2009.

Also in February 2009, we will begin to place WOW! stickers on the boxes of produce that we believe are special in some way. They may be brighter in color, better in flavor or exceptionally good for the season! Whatever the reason, when you get a WOW! sticker…Take a look! You’ll want to see what’s inside!

The Brix meter, also called a refractometer, measures the sweetness factor of fruits and vegetables on the Brix scale ranging from zero to 32. There is a reference chart for the Brix reading of every fruit and vegetable. The higher the Brix reading, the higher the nutrient levels, the higher the “sweetness” factor and therefore the better the flavor of the fruit!
